GRAAR is proud to announce it's hosting the 2009 RAGE 24-30 hour Adventure Race to be held September 25th-26th, 2009. This race is designed to challenge the intermediate to advance adventure racers.

Premier Division: 4 person coed (Min. $1000 to FIRST PLACE)
Divisions: 2 person (coed, male, and female) and Solo
Who: Experienced Beginner to Advance Racer

Event Cost:
$200 per person. The cost includes a T-shirt, post race banquet and prizes that will go to the top finishers. Entry is limited on a first come-first serve basis. This cost includes the rental of canoe. The top 4 person Coed team will win a cash prize. Event cost does not include any park day pass which if any will not be significant. There is a late entry fee after Aug. 14th of $10 per person and $15 per person after Aug. 28th. Registration will close September 11th.

About The Race:
In it's 8th consectative year, this race is built off the RAGE tradition from Infiterra Sports and RiverRats Adventure Racing. GRAAR is excited to draw on the experienced Rage course designer Cooper Green for the 2009 Rage. You can expect this event to challenge even the most advance racers while being capable of completing by anyone new to Adventure Racing. Teams will be required to plot their own UTM coordinates which will be given out prior to the start.

Team check-in will be Thursday the 24th of September from 8:00PM to 11:00PM. Late Check in will be from 7:00AM - 8:00AM on Friday Morning. Pre-Race Meeting will be at 9:00AM (Location TBA) and the tentative race start will be at 1:00PM on Friday the 25th.

Post Race Banquet and Awards Cermony:
There will be a post race banquet and awards cermony for all racers and support crew. More info will be announced this summer with more details on the Banquet. (Location - TBA)

Course Details Include:

Trekking / Orienteering:
The total trekking will be 20 to 25 miles depending on the selected route and number of CP's achieved. The terrain will vary from trails to dense brush, woodlands, swamps, and open fields. Maps will be USGS 1:24000 but might be printed in multiple scales. Teams will be required to plot their own UTM points.

Paddling:
Teams will be paddling 25 to 30 miles depending on their route. The canoes will be provided and teams are not allowed to use their own boats. The canoes are included in the cost of the race. Every racer must wear a life jacket at all times while on or in the water. Kayaks will be provided for Solo Racers.

Mountain Bike:
The mountain biking will be 50 to 70 miles in length. Teams must navigate on a series of multiple riding conditions to locate and check in at each of the required checkpoints. Navigation will be required during the biking sections.

Ropes:
We are currently considering a ropes course or special challenge. If we have a ropes couse, rope gear will be provided.

Divisions:
There's 3 divisions: 4 person Coed, 2 person (which consists of coed, male and female) and Solo. The 4 person Coed division is the only prize division. 2 person and solo division are allowed for the experience of racing the Rage. Note for Solo Racers: We will only allow solo's that have the proper experience level for such a race. Solo's must present GRAAR with a "race resume" of thier credentials. We plan on having a significant cash prize to the top 3 teams in only the 4 person Coed with at least a minimun of $1000 to first place (this will go up as the number of teams increase).
